# Jira integration

Connect a Jira Cloud site and create issues from feedback.

An Annot8 workspace admin can connect one Jira Cloud site with Atlassian
authorization. Annot8 creates issues in the project you choose when new
feedback arrives. You can also create an issue from a selected thread.

## Connect Jira [#connect-jira]

1. Open **Dashboard → Integrations → Jira** and select **Connect**.
2. Authorize Annot8 in Atlassian and choose the Jira Cloud site.
3. Select that site in Annot8 and enter the project key, such as `PROJ`.
4. Save the connection and use **Test connection**. The test checks issue
creation access and the available issue types without creating a test issue.

The authorizing account needs permission to browse the project and create
issues. Atlassian grants site-limited `read:jira-work` and `write:jira-work`
scopes. The write scope also permits editing and deleting issues at the API
level, although Annot8 only uses it to create issues. Vercel Connect holds the
OAuth credentials and refreshes them as needed; Annot8 does not ask for a
personal Jira API token.

## How issues are created [#how-issues-are-created]

Annot8 uses the project's Task issue type when available. Otherwise it picks
an available non-subtask issue type. Issues created automatically include the
feedback text, author, and a link to the page. Issues created from a selected
thread include its project, page, and thread context. A project's integration
settings can route that project to a different Jira project key on the same
authorized site.

Jira status changes do not sync back into Annot8. Self-hosted Jira Server is
not supported.
