# Discord integration

Post new feedback into a Discord channel via a channel webhook.

**Pro and above.** Setup is a channel webhook URL.

## Connect [#connect]

<Steps>
  <Step>
    ### Create a channel webhook [#create-a-channel-webhook]

    In Discord, open the target channel's **Edit Channel → Integrations →
    Webhooks → New Webhook**. Name it "Annot8", pick the channel, and **Copy Webhook
    URL**. It looks like `https://discord.com/api/webhooks/...`.

    Creating webhooks requires the **Manage Webhooks** permission on that channel.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Paste it into Annot8 [#paste-it-into-annot8]

    **Integrations** in the sidebar → **Discord** → paste the URL → **Connect**,
    then **Test**.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Choose which projects use it [#choose-which-projects-use-it]

    A new connection is on for every project. Switch Discord off under **Project →
    Integrations** for any project that shouldn't use it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What gets posted [#what-gets-posted]

Every new thread on an enabled project posts a message with the project name,
the author, the comment, and a link to the page.

## Different channels per project [#different-channels-per-project]

Discord doesn't support per-project overrides — the workspace connection
posts to one channel. Under **Project → Integrations** you can turn Discord
off for projects that shouldn't post there; for genuinely separate channels,
use a [webhook](/docs/integrations/webhooks) per project instead.

## Troubleshooting [#troubleshooting]

**Nothing arrives.** Discord webhooks are deleted along with their channel, and
they're also revoked if someone removes them from the channel's Integrations
panel. Check the last-delivery status on the integration, then recreate the
webhook.

**Rate limiting.** Discord rate-limits webhooks per channel. A burst of feedback
can be throttled — a dedicated channel with normal volume won't hit this.
