## General [#general]

<Accordions>
  <Accordion title="What is Annot8?">
    A visual feedback platform. Reviewers pin comments directly onto elements of
    your live site, and each thread arrives with the page URL, viewport, browser,
    console errors, and failed network requests already attached.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How is this different from screenshots in Slack?">
    A screenshot loses the thing that makes feedback actionable: where it happened.
    Annot8 anchors each comment to the actual DOM element, so it survives scrolling,
    resizing, and new deploys — and it arrives with the diagnostic context already
    collected.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which sites does it work with?">
    Any site. It's a plain script tag, so React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte, Astro,
    WordPress, Webflow, or hand-written HTML all work identically. It doesn't care
    how the page was built.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do reviewers need an account?">
    No. Share a [public link](/docs/feedback/links) and guests can pin comments
    without signing up. They never consume a paid seat.
  </Accordion>
</Accordions>

## Installation [#installation]

<Accordions>
  <Accordion title="How do I install it?">
    One script tag on every page. Copy the generated snippet from **Project →
    Settings → Installation** — see the [Quickstart](/docs/quickstart).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is there an npm package?">
    No. Load it from the hosted URL, which is what keeps the widget up to date.
    There's nothing to install and nothing to vendor.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What does it cost my page?">
    The loader is 6 KB (2.4 KB gzipped) and loads asynchronously. The UI itself is
    fetched lazily after the page goes idle, and nothing runs per DOM mutation.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does it work with a Content Security Policy?">
    Yes. You need `script-src https://www.annot8.app`, `connect-src
    https://*.convex.cloud https://*.convex.site https://www.annot8.app`,
    `frame-src https://www.annot8.app`, and `img-src data: blob:`. Details in
    [Installation](/docs/installation#content-security-policy).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why isn't the widget showing?">
    Almost always: the hostname doesn't match an
    [environment](/docs/dashboard/environments), or you're on a production host with
    **Show widget in production** off. Full list in
    [Troubleshooting](/docs/troubleshooting).
  </Accordion>
</Accordions>

## Team and billing [#team-and-billing]

<Accordions>
  <Accordion title="How much is it?">
    Free, then $10 per seat per month for Pro and $20 for Business ($8 and $16
    billed yearly). Enterprise is custom. See [Plans](/docs/billing/plans).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How many people can I have?">
    Free includes 3 seats. Paid plans are as many as you purchase; Enterprise has no
    seat minimum. Guest reviewers never consume a seat.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do pending invitations count toward seats?">
    Yes. Used seats = members + pending invitations. Revoking a stale invite frees
    its seat immediately.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens when I hit the Free limits?">
    Nothing breaks. Existing threads stay readable; new threads pause until the next
    calendar month or until you upgrade.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I cancel anytime?">
    Yes, from the customer portal. Access continues to the end of the period you've
    paid for, then the workspace reverts to Free. Nothing is deleted.
  </Accordion>
</Accordions>

## Features [#features]

<Accordions>
  <Accordion title="How long is feedback kept?">
    The inbox reaches back 14 days on Free, 90 on Pro, and without limit on Business
    and Enterprise. Retention controls **visibility** — older threads stop
    appearing, and come back if you upgrade.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I export my feedback?">
    Yes — **Export CSV** from the project inbox, or use an
    [outbound webhook](/docs/integrations/webhooks) for a continuous feed. For a
    personal export, use **Account & privacy → Download your data**.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which tools does it integrate with?">
    Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Linear, GitHub, GitLab, Asana, Trello, email,
    and outbound webhooks. Jira OAuth setup is pending. See
    [Integrations](/docs/integrations/overview).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is there a REST API?">
    There is a read-only
    [OpenAPI discovery description](https://www.annot8.app/openapi.json), but no
    public workspace or customer-data API yet. To move data out, use an
    [outbound webhook](/docs/integrations/webhooks), CSV export, or the personal
    data export.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I run it on staging and production from one project?">
    Yes — that's what [environments](/docs/dashboard/environments) are for. One
    project key covers every host, and feedback is filed into separate lanes.
  </Accordion>
</Accordions>

## Privacy and security [#privacy-and-security]

<Accordions>
  <Accordion title="What does the widget collect?">
    Everything is listed in [What gets captured](/docs/widget/capture). Deliberately
    excluded: keystrokes, session replay, your app's storage values, microphone
    audio during a screen recording, and query strings on feedback URLs.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do I need a cookie banner for this?">
    Annot8 sets no cookies on your site, and core feedback is a deliberate
    submission rather than tracking. The widget does keep a few `localStorage`
    entries — launcher position and, for live chat, a visitor id and any name or
    email the visitor entered — and whether those count as strictly necessary
    depends on your deployment and local law. [Analytics](/docs/analytics/overview)
    is different: it's off by default and only runs once you pass consent. Describe
    Annot8 in your own privacy and cookie notices either way; the
    [storage list](/docs/security/privacy#browser-storage) is a good starting
    point.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is the project key a secret?">
    No, it's a public identifier. What protects a project is the
    [environment allowlist](/docs/dashboard/environments) plus origin-validated
    session tokens — a stolen script tag won't work on another domain.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How are integration credentials stored?">
    Encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage, decrypted server-side only at
    delivery time. They're never returned to the browser.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Where is data stored, and can I get a DPA?">
    Storage and processing details, the current subprocessor list, and the DPA are
    at [annot8.app/subprocessors](https://www.annot8.app/subprocessors) and
    [annot8.app/dpa](https://www.annot8.app/dpa). For a custom contract, email
    [sales@annot8.app](mailto:sales@annot8.app).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I delete my data?">
    Yes — individual threads, whole projects, or your entire account, from
    **Account & privacy**. Project and account deletion are permanent.
  </Accordion>
</Accordions>
